Commercial Business Furniture (CBF) was established in Salem in 1869 as Commercial Book Store and has been a fixture on Commercial St ever since. In 1952, Ray Gotchall joined the company as a commissioned sales person and was with CBF for 61 years, taking over the company in 1992, moved to the current location at 1070 Commercial St NE, rebranded to Commercial Business Furniture and introduced his son, Steve to the business. In 2013, Ray and Steve, started the retirement process and we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to purchase CBF and this became a reality January 1st, 2014.
CBF is now a woman owned LLC and still a family run business. Myself, Katy, sole proprietor, and with a background in customer service and ergonomics, handles the majority of ergonomic assessments, evaluations, chair fittings and accessory sales.
Dale Mizer, my husband, has an extensive 30 years in office furniture design, production and installation as well as space planning and layout. Dale also provides consultations, sales, chair fittings as well as running the day to day operations of the office.
Sawyer Mizer, our son, is our delivery/installation/repair person and with a strong background in customer service, he is respected and very appreciated by our customers. Sawyer has proven a quick study in chairs especially, handling repairs on newer and old alike. We cover most of Oregon and Sawyer spends a lot of time in the company van, racking up the miles and audible books!
Valerie Forsythe is our front desk/administrative executive and brought to the table a strong background in customer service, small office management, AR/AP experience and in just a short 1.5 years, has gained a very strong knowledge of office furniture, ergonomics and all the lingo involved. With 6 children of her own, she is pretty much unflappable even at the craziest times of year!
Alan Mahlin…oh, Alan. He will tell you that Dale and I took pity on an old retired guy and let him come work PT for us but in truth, Alan brings 35+ years of experience as the former owner of Cascade Office Furniture in Bend. Alan is an amazing resource and is the best at researching/sourcing product no matter what the project as well as taking great care of our customers.
Jordan Savage joined our delivery/install team October 2018 and is a great asset. He has learned quickly the many facets of office furniture, navigating the many state and commercial buildings we service and provides our customers the best of service. Jordan is a young family man, married with two adorable girls to keep him on his toes!
Lorielle Dowell is the newest member of our team and comes to us with loads of experience, a very compassionate and caring individual with a great eye for design! We feel very fortunate to have Lorielle with us, sharing her sales experience as well as helping on the ergonomic side of sales. Lorielle is married and lives in Salem with her husband and two children.
